Did you know...

Yerba Maté has been used since the time of the ancient Indians of Brazil and Paraguay and is considered a national drink in several South American countries. Maté is high in caffeine and is a wonderful natural energy booster.

Why Maté is not a tea

The term "tea" technically refers to product of the buds and leaves of the tea plant, Camellia Sinensis. In modern times, the term"tea" has become interchangeable with the product of steeping any plant product that is steeped in hot water. While Maté qualifies as such a drink, the plant that produces Maté leaves differs from the tea plant. For this reason Maté is technically not a tea. Neither are herbal blends that are created by mixing flowers, herbs, roots, and seeds.
